By Eileen Richardson

With 275 days of sunshine in Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico you should get outside and take advantage of Free Fun Outdoors activities. In the Spring and Summer these are some great ideas:

Have a picnic in the Park. Some of the better parks for picnics I think are:

  • Harvey Cornell Rose Park, 1315 Galisteo Parkway
  • Orlando Fernandez Park, 500 Buena Vista Street
  • Cathedral Park, E. Palace Avenue and Cathedral Place
  • Cross of the Martyrs, 617 Paseo de Peralta
  • Railyard Park, 600 S. Guadalupe
  • Monsignor Patrick Smith Park, 1001 Canyon Road

Here are some of the best parks for children:

  • Alto/Bicentennial Park 1121 Alto Street
  • Amelia White Park- Old Santa Fe Trail and Camino Corrales
  • Atalaya Park- 721 Camino Cabra (next to Atalaya Elementary)
